Armenia can sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan both on the border and in any third country, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in an interview with the Turkish NTV channel. According to him, it is important that the state in whose territory the signing takes place is acceptable to Yerevan and Baku.
This could be the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, it could be any third country that would be acceptable to both Yerevan and Baku. All this could become a subject of discussion , the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said .
Mirzoyan called for consultations to begin in the near future. He also suggested agreeing not only on the place, but also on the time and exact date of signing the agreement.
Earlier, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that the removal of just two key obstacles would open up a real opportunity for signing a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. According to him, this involves the liquidation of the OSCE Minsk Group and amendments to the Armenian constitution.
Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that Yerevan should not waste time signing a peace agreement with Baku. The head of state emphasized that in this matter, “the ball is in Armenia’s court.” Aliyev also added that the South Caucasus region has not been integrated, although this is possible from the point of view of the economy, transport and energy security.
